On behalf of Fundación Vía Libre, Enrique Chaparro participated in the meeting of the Science, Technology and Productive Innovation Commission of the Argentine Chamber of Deputies. The meeting held last Tuesday, August 6, was the first of a series of meetings aimed at reaching a consensus on a bill to regulate artificial intelligence in Argentina.
Artificial intelligence is not inherently neutral, it is not magic or mystery. It has immense capabilities along with other potentially very interesting technologies. It is not the only technology with immense capabilities that we contemplate in this third decade of the century. It can be used both with malicious intent. Concerted action is needed to create a regulatory framework that creates limits but not barriers. There are things that should not cross borders without prior control but in principle there should not be those unbreakable barriers. Enrique Chaparro.
