Luminate: online crime prevention protocol and Open Source Intelligence

Established in 2018, Luminate is a global philanthropic organisation with the goal of empowering people and institutions to work together to build just and fair societies. To do this, their work includes funding and supporting non-profit and for-profit organisations and advocating for policies
and actions that will help people participate in and shape the issues affecting their lives. It works in four connected areas: Civic Empowerment, Data & Digital Rights, Financial Transparency, and Independent Media.

In this 2020-21 we are working in cooperation with our counterparts the Center for Legal and Social Studies (CELS) and the Latin American Institute for Security and Democracy (ILSED) in a project to monitor the online crime prevention protocol and Open Source Intelligence (OSINT) as well as in the development of a framework for the protection of citizens’ rights in the use of social networks, in particular, in the protection
of the right to privacy and freedom of expression.
