The eighth annual ACM FAccT (Fairness, Accountability, and Transparency) conference will take place from June 23 to 26, 2025, at the Athens Conservatoire in Athens, Greece. This international gathering brings together a multidisciplinary research community to explore the ethical, social, and technical challenges posed by AI-driven sociotechnical systems.
This year, Vía Libre will be represented by Luciana Benotti, who will participate as a mentor in the Doctoral Colloquium, a space aimed at graduate students working on issues related to equity, transparency, and accountability in automated systems. The colloquium will be held on Monday June 23 and will feature mentoring tables, panels with senior researchers, and collaborative activities aimed at strengthening thesis projects and academic paths.
Additionally, on Tuesday, June 24, Luciana will also take part in the session “Ethical and Sustainable Funding Strategies for Feminist and Latin American-Led Initiatives: a collective analysis” alongside F<A+i>r. This session aims to highlight the barriers faced by independent, feminist, and Latin American initiatives in securing funding, and to promote ethical, sustainable, and inclusive strategies for accessing critical resources. Drawing on concrete experiences, participants will collaborate to develop practical tools for rethinking the economic sustainability of these initiatives from a perspective grounded in feminist and community-based principles.
