On Thursday, November 21, Luciana Benotti and Laura Alonso Alemany will participate in an event organized by the Data Empowerment Fund and the Open Data Institute. The event aims to highlight the role of data empowerment in addressing some of the world’s most pressing challenges.
The Vía Libre Foundation is supported by the Data Empowerment Fund, which backs projects focused on ensuring fair labor practices, tackling the climate crisis, and fostering ethical AI governance. In this context, Vía Libre was invited to present its current project: “Community Collection of Linguistic Resources for Bias Evaluation in Language Technologies.”
This event will feature a variety of sessions, including panels, lightning talks, and more, covering topics such as:
- Exposing human labor in data and AI supply chains.
- Filling data gaps and using “counter-data” to advocate for change.
- Understanding data sovereignty, equity, and justice.
- Building and sustaining data communities.
