On Monday 28 April, Beatriz Busaniche will participate in the event “Argentina and artificial intelligence: policies, communication and culture” organised by the Communication and Culture Area of the Latin American Faculty of Social Sciences (FLACSO).
The activity will take place in the auditorium of FLACSO (Tucumán 1966, CABA), open and free of charge with previous registration.
PANEL 1 – 17 A 18.30 hs.
Argentina and the AI ‘race’: how to join in?
Moderator: Natalia Zuazo (FLACSO)
Panelists: Claudio Martínez (journalist), Juan Manuel García (Derechos Digitales), Beatriz Busaniche (Vía Libre).
In a context where artificial intelligence transforms global geopolitical dynamics and, after the recent failure of the AI Summit convened by President Macron in Paris to articulate effective solutions, this panel aims to analyse how these technologies can reshape the scenario in Latin America. We propose to discuss the tensions and opportunities arising from this new digital revolution, the redefinition of the sovereignty of nation states and international competition: it is necessary to establish regulatory frameworks and strategies that enhance regional development. Where is Argentina at and how should we join these challenges?
PANEL 2 – 19 TO 20.30 HOURS
The impact of AI on communication and culture
Moderator: Luis Alberto Quevedo (FLACSO)
Panellists: Nicolás Madoery (FUTURX), Jazmín Adler (CONICET).
The vertiginous development of the thousand AI tools that have appeared in recent years (or months) have entered the field of Communication and Culture without asking permission and without waiting for regulations or ethical debates: they are simply there and as fast as they are effective. AI is changing the way we work in the fields of art, design, journalism and politics and is modifying our link with the visual. It is also re-questioning (again!) the regime of truth that reigns today in the world of platforms and cultural products. But, at the same time, AI appears as a great creative tool that challenges both the artists already established within a field and all of us who simply operate with a screen.
