We’ll be participating in the Annual Conference of the Association for Computational Linguistics (ACL 2025), one of the leading international events in the field of natural language processing (NLP).

This year, our team will be presenting the tutorial “Navigating Ethical Challenges in NLP: Hands-on Strategies for Students and Researchers.” The tutorial will take place on Sunday, July 27, from 2:00 to 5:30 p.m. (local time in Austria), in hybrid format (in person and online). It is structured into seven interactive segments featuring group-based participatory exercises.

The tutorial was developed by an international and interdisciplinary team and is organized by Luciana Benotti and Guido Ivetta, members of the AI research team at Fundación Vía Libre, in collaboration with the ACL Ethics Committee.

Its goal is to provide researchers and students with practical tools to identify and address ethical challenges in their academic work. The session will use concrete examples inspired by real-life cases encountered by ethics review committees, and will encourage collective reflection on how to write strong ethics sections, when to trigger an ethics review, and how to consider the broader social impact of NLP research.
