On October 14 and 16, the Latin American Feminist Artificial Intelligence Network will hold its meeting “Technofeminist Confluences for Possible Futures” at UERJ (Universidade do Estado do Rio de Janeiro). The event will bring together researchers, activists, collectives, and artists from across Latin America and the Caribbean.
The gathering aims to consolidate and continue the work of the Feminist Artificial Intelligence Network, which since 2021 has been rethinking the uses and narratives around AI in the region, advancing technofeminist, intersectional, and decolonial perspectives to build more just and inclusive technological futures.
Representing Fundación Vía Libre, Sofía Martinelli and Marcos Gómez will take part:
- October 14: Marcos Gómez will join the roundtable “Pedagogical Proposals, Technologies, and Datafication” – 12:00 pm (GMT-3).
- October 16: Sofía Martinelli and Marcos Gómez will lead the workshop “Intersectional Biases in Artificial Intelligence” – 09:00 am (GMT-3).
With a wide diversity of perspectives, the meeting will address urgent issues such as algorithmic racism, surveillance, data colonialism, epistemic violence, education, and algorithmic justice, fostering collaborative networks that strengthen the construction of technologies from the Global South.
